Rukus Gear Up for Their First Open Mic Night at The Chairman

Updated: Apr 9, 2019

Rukus are set to host their debut open mic evening at The Chairman, Middlesbrough

The Rukus team are dancing with anticipation ahead of their first open mic evening on Wednesday 3rd April. The event will take place in the charming surroundings of The Chairman, tucked away on Middlesbrough’s beloved Bedford Street.

The bar has become a favourite amongst locals over recent years with its wonderful range of drinks, an inviting ambience and incredible food. It seems all that’s missing is an open mic, and that’s where Rukus come in.

With the help of some of the North East’s finest musicians, we present to you an evening of live music, sprinkled with a light dusting of laughter; for good measure.

Is the name James Lewis Mockett familiar to you? If not, perhaps his face may be. James is a regular on the local open mic scene, but he also brightens everyone’s day with his captivating, mid-town busking sessions.

James’ infectious instrumentals are sure to leave any music-lover filled with delight, and hopefully, the confidence to take to the stage! If not, perhaps a cold beer will help.

As if that wasn’t enough, topping the night off with an electro post-punk twist are Teesside trio, Phantom Radio. The lads are on hand to treat revellers to a 30-minute exclusive set, an explosive ending to what’s set to be a brilliant evening of live music.

The Chairman's Bartender, Tom Gallagher said:

“Baker Street seems to be where people come mid-week if you want to hear a bit of live music, but nothing’s really been happening on Bedford so it’s good to have something going on down here!”

Hopefully, the creative collaborations of all those involved will bring Bedford Street to life this coming Wednesday 3rd April. With free entry and floods of glorious music, what more could you need?

Come along to The Chairman on Bedford Street from 7-11pm and help to cause a Rukus.

We hope to see you there!
